Everett Wayne Taylor
(March 25, 1928 - March 29, 2012)

Everett Wayne Taylor, age 84, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March
29, 2012 in Talihina, Oklahoma.


He was born March 25, 1928 in Summerville, Texas to the late James Claud
Taylor and the late Offie Lee Cobb Taylor. He was united in marriage to the late
Beatrice Davis. He was a Radio and T.V. Repairman, and was also owner and
operator of Southside Glass, and Taylor’s Secondhand Store, both in Mena. Mr.
Taylor was also a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, and
also the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He loved to fly and was
a member of the Confederate Air Force Organization. He was a loving father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend and will be remembered
fondly by his family who loved him.


He is survived by:


Daughter: Sheila Taylor and husband Neil of Mena, Arkansas


Brother: Charlie Taylor of Mena, Arkansas


Grandchildren: Steven Allen Taylor and wife Leah of Potter, Arkansas Tandi
Leigh Taylor and Nathan Wolfenbarger of Fayetteville, Arkansas


2 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Offie Cobb and his wife
Beatrice Taylor.


Graveside services will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at
Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Lloyd Allen Taylor and Brother James
Spradlin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood
Funeral Home. Visitation will be general. Military honors rendered by Veterans
Organizations of Polk County.

       Bonnie Elene Standridge, age 73, of Mena, Arkansas passed away  Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Mena.
       She was born September 06, 1938 in Fort Collins, Colorado to the late Calvin Humrich and the late Cora Haney Humrich.
       Bonnie was married to the late Jack Ovin Standridge. She loved making jewelry, knitting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed a home-grown tomato sandwich. Bonnie loved
her family very much. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her and loved her. She will be missed dearly.

       She is survived by:
       Sons: Larry Burns of Heavener, Oklahoma Jerry Burns of Mena, Arkansas Ty Rhoades of Wellston, Oklahoma and Jimmy Standridge and wife Lisa of Mena, Arkansas.
       Daughter: Jackie Carver and husband Jeff of Foreman, Arkansas.
       Grandchildren: Larry Burns, Nathan Burns Patrick Burns, Myla Hendrix Alex Burns, Marsha Burns Julie Rhoades, Korie Sesena Brendon Henry, Taylor Carver Tiffany Carver, Jacob Standridge and Jared Standridge.
       4 Great-Grandchildren.
       She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Cora Humrich, her husband, Jack Ovin Standridge , brothers and sisters.
       Funeral services will be Thursday, March 29, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother James Cogburn officiating.             
       Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Samuel Haden  Rhodes

       Samuel Haden Rhodes, age 74, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Mena.
       Sam was born January 14, 1938 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to the late Monroe Rhodes and the late Myrtle Lee Lambert Rhodes.
       He was a retired small business owner in gas distribution. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church at Big Fork. Sam loved the
farm  and ranch life. He enjoyed riding horses, farming, raising cattle and anything  his grandchildren wanted him to do with them. Sam loved visiting with friends at  the coffee shop. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend  to all who knew him.
       He is survived by:
       Daughters: Molly Lindsey and husband Randy of Mena, Arkansas and Marla Parrett and husband Mike of Sherwood, Arkansas.
        Grandchildren: Toni Lindsey of Mena, Arkansas Dani Lindsey of Mena, Arkansas and Ian Parrett of Sherwood, Arkansas.
        Sisters: Isabelle McClinton of Mena, Arkansas Delia Forrest and husband Ezra of Mena, Arkansas.
        Brother: Oren Rhodes of Hatfield, Arkansas.

        He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Myrtle Rhodes, and two brothers.

      Mary Lee Burnett Faulkner, age 92, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 in Mena. She was born October o4, 1919 in DeKalb, Texas to the late James Blant Burnett and the late Minnie D. Larue Burnett. 
      Mary was married to the late William Lewis Faulkner on May 05, 1935, for seventy years. She loved going fishing and picnics with her family that she loved dearly. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a friend to  all who knew her.
       She is survived by:
       Sons: Jimmy Faulkner and wife Linda of Greenwood, Arkansas and Jack Faulkner of Mena, Arkansas.

Rosa P. Quigley, age 91, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Mena.

She was born December 30, 1920 to the late Herbert Daggett and the late Mabel Yurington Daggett. She was united in marriage to the late William Quigley. She was a homemaker by profession and was a member of the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Quigley was also active in her community and was a member of the National Button Club and was in the Alpha Beta Phi Sorority. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and won’t soon be forgotten.

She is survived by:

Son: Don Quigley and wife Miriam of Mena, Arkansas.
Sister: Della Johnson of Apache Junction, Arizona.
1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Quigley and by her parents, Herbert and Mabel Quigley.

Holly Hellam Lunsford, age 31, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her home.

She was born January 30, 1981 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Loren Hellam and to Vicki Usrey Hellam. She was a member of the Union Mission Pentecostal Church and was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by:

Son: Tyler Warren of Ft. Smith, Arkansas Daughter: Joyanna Chaney of Mena, Arkansas.
Brothers: Jon Flowers of San Diego, California Charles Hellam of Mena, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Loren Hellam.

Gayland Levoy Crocker age 69 of Mena, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Chipley, Florida. He was born on Friday, December 18, 1942 to Radford Levoy Crocker and Helen Marie Worthington in Bokchita, Oklahoma.

Gayland was a member of the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne. After the military he became a pipefitter and a plumber. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

He is preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Crocker Dixon.

Survivors include his father, Radford Crocker and wife, Patricia of Dallas, Texas; his mother, Helen Taylor of El Dorado, Arkansas; his wife, Linda Crocker of Mena, two sons, Todd Crocker and wife, Cindi of Shreveport, Louisiana and Blayn Crocker of Fort Towson, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Crocker and Jerry Crocker both of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Cheryl Morgan and husband, Hal of El Dorado, Arkansas; two grandsons, Timothy and Zane; two granddaughters, Megan and Maci; one great grandchild, Sophia; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Brother Roger Terrell officiating. Services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Virgil Grady Willis, age 70, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 in Mena.

He was born September 29, 1941 to the late Grady Franklin Willis and the late Bertha Chaney Willis. He was united in marriage to Brenda Foster. He was a machinist by profession and was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by:

Wife: Brenda Willis of Mena, Arkansas.
Daughter: Angela Cunningham and husband Slade of Mena, Arkansas.
Sisters: Frankye Ripley of Oroville, California Norma June Willis of McAlester, Oklahoma Yvonne O’Daniel and husband Kenny of McAlester, Oklahoma.
Brothers: Jim Willis and wife Francine of Mena, Arkansas Rod Willis of Sonora, California Jeff Willis and wife Carol of Napa, California Brother and Sister-in-Law: Gene and Pat Earhart of Anaheim, California.
Numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Bertha Willis, a son, Dewayne Virgil Willis, and his mother-in-law, Mildred Standridge.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, March 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with interment following in Owens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Steve Roger Rawlings, age 52, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Mena, Arkansas.

Steve Rawlings, also known as “Wolf” and “Paw Paw” was born March 19, 1959 in Tampa, Florida to the late Charles William Rawlings and Judy Smith Rawlings. He was married to Lora A. Keefer Rawlings. Steve was a Master Carpenter for forty-two years. He was member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and of the Episcopalian faith. Steve was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by:

Wife: Lora A. Rawlings of the home.
Sons: Ethan Rawlings of Mena, Arkansas Tharon Smith of Anderson, Alabama.
Daughters: Tara Raines of Mena, Arkansas Crystal Bates and husband Cliff of Rogersville, Alabama Elissa Bates and husband John of Florence, Alabama.
Mother: Judy Rawlings of Mena, Arkansas.
Mother-in-law: Frances Borders of Hatfield, Arkansas.

Lavada Initia Price, age 81, of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Mena, Arkansas.

Lavada was born September 02, 1930 in Wickes, Arkansas to the late John Truly Wilcher and the late Ferrie Initia Myers Wilcher. She was married to the late Orman Price until his death. Lavada was a caring and loving teacher with the Wickes Headstart Program for many years. She also was a volunteer in the Grandparent Program in the Wickes Elementary Schools and was loved by many children whose lives she touched. Lavada was a member of the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a dear friend to all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by:

Daughters: Brenda Hensley and husband Philip of Wickes, Arkansas Diane Richardson and husband Scott of Wickes, Arkansas.
Brother: Robert Lee Wilcher and wife Jean of DeQueen, Arkansas.
Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Host of many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orman Price, parents, John Truly and Ferrie Wilcher, one son, Ronnie Price, one sister, and two brothers.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Baker Cemetery in Wickes, Arkansas with Brother Chris Burke officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

LONNIE HARRISON BARRON

Lonnie Harrison Barron, age 75, died on  March 16, 2012 in Fayetteville surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First
Presbyterian Church in Springdale.

Lonnie Harrison Barron was born on July 28, 1936 in Mena, Arkansas to
Florence Opal Harrison and Lonnie Dexter Barron.


A 1954 graduate of Mena High School, he attended Arkansas Tech University for
two years before transferring to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He
graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1958 before completing his
Master’s Degree in Education in 1961.

Barron was an educator and coach in the Mena and Polk County area for 35
years.

He started his coaching career in Cove, Arkansas in 1958, becoming the junior
high and senior high boys and girls basketball coach. In 1959, he moved to Acorn
Public Schools where he coached the junior high and senior high boys teams and
added elementary principal to his title.

In 1963, he returned to his hometown Mena as head junior high basketball and
football coach, and served as an assistant coach for both senior high teams.

In 1969, Barron became head football coach at Mena, and over 16 seasons
compiled a 93-65-7 record highlighted by winning the 1976 Arkansas AA State
Championship as well as five District Championships.

He was an assistant coach for the Arkansas Activities Association West
All-Star football team in 1972. He also coached baseball and track, winning two
additional District Championships and was the assistant principal at Mena High
School during his career. The Bearcat Stadium Fieldhouse was named in his honor
in 2006.

In 1985, Barron retired from coaching and became a teacher and administrator
at Rich Mountain Community College in Mena before returning to Mena Public
Schools in 1988 as Superintendent.

He retired as Superintendent in 1994 and moved to Northwest Arkansas to be
closer to his two sons. After serving on the city council for three years,
Barron was elected as the 10th mayor of Johnson, Arkansas in 2007 and served the
city for four years before retiring in 2011.

Lonnie married the love of his life, Jane Ellison, on July 14, 1961 and they
enjoyed 50-plus wonderful years together. In his spare time, he enjoyed
collecting and restoring antique sporting goods and rarely missed attending a
Razorback sporting event after retiring to the Fayetteville area.

Lonnie was always active in his church. He was a member and deacon of the
First Presbyterian Church in Mena for many years and taught Sunday school there
for over 25 years. He was also an active member and elder of the First
Presbyterian Church in Springdale.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Ellison Barron of Johnson; son John David
Barron and wife Heather Barron of Fayetteville; son Mark Barron of Johnson; and
three grandchildren Peyton Barron, Drew Barron and Allison Barron of
Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Christian Education Fund of
the First Presbyterian Church in Springdale.

Jerry L. Emry Sr. age 65, passed away Friday, March 09, 2012 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Jerry was born June 06, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Jack McGuire Emry and the late Betty June Holman Emry. He was a talented musician playing the guitar and singing. Jerry was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and was loved by all.

He is survived by:

Son: Jerry Emry Jr. of Ramstein, Germany.

Michael Don Norris, age 56, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at his home.

He was born March 17, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Herman Eldon Norris and Nada Jean Reed. He was married to Cynthia Nunn in 1976; they had 40 blessed years together and were given two precious children, Jonathan and Jessica Norris. Mike worked as a home renovation specialist and was owner and operator of Norris Restoration and Renovation. He restored a number of historic home sites here in Mena. He enjoyed woodworking and camping with his family. Mike loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by:

Wife: Cynthia Norris of Mena, Arkansas.
Mother: Nada Jean Reed of Mena, Arkansas.
Son: Jonathan Norris and wife Becky of Mena, Arkansas Daughter: Jessica Norris of Chicago, Illinois.
Brother: Lynn Norris of Weatherford, Texas.

Courtney Shea McCormack age 19 of Mena, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Mena. She was born on July 20, 1992 to Jeffrey Allen McCormack and Kimberly Flonell Parker in Mena, Arkansas.

Courtney loved her family and friends and enjoyed people’s company. She loved to hang out with her friends, but the apple of her eye was her baby girl, Paylon. She loved her with all her heart. Courtney attended Mena High School and graduated with the Class of 2011. Courtney enjoyed going fishing and watching movies. She was a waitress for Myer’s Cruiser’s Drive-in in Mena. Courtney loved the Lord and attended church where her father was pastor. Courtney will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Fred McCormack; paternal great grandfather Reverend Dan Doyle and maternal grandfather Robert Parker.

Survivors include her father, Jeff McCormack and wife Kim of Mena; her mother, Kim Parker of Boardcamp; her daughter, Paylon Sage of Mena; three brothers, Jeff McCormack II of Dallas, Texas, Anthony Laxamana of Mena and William Scott of Mena; her sister, Meagan Laxamana of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; her paternal grandmother, Sharon McCormack of Mena; her paternal great grandmother, Kathleen Doyle of Mena; maternal grandmother, Emma Reynolds of Garden Valley, Texas; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 6-8 P.M at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 16, 2012 at 12:00 P.M. at the Southside Church of God with Brother Jeff McCormack and Brother Kenneth Posey officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Gilead Cemetery in Rocky.

He was born on September 13, 1999 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Herbert John Atkinson and Christal Lea Thornsberry Ford. He was a student at Mena Middle School and was a member of the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church, where he was active in the Kingdom Kids Club. He was a loving son, brother and a friend to all and will be dearly missed by his peers, teachers and family.

She was born on Saturday, October 5, 1935 to Fred Henry and Lila Faye Vaughn Blohm in Des Moines, Iowa. Gerry graduated from Mena High School in 1953 and married Harold Wesson on June 25, 1954, in Mena, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Lewis Wesson; one son, David Wesson; two daughters, Ramona Wesson and Sharon Wesson; one grandson, Lance Wesson.


Survivors include:

Ronnie was born July 12, 1945 to Frank Heifner of Cove, Ar. and the late Pauline Heifner Richardson. He was a retired truck driver and of the protestant faith, a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.

Survivors are his wife Virgie Heifner and 3 sons, Stanley Heifner and wife Pam, Wesley Heifner and wife Christi, Scotty Heifner and wife Charlotte. 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Father Frank Heifner of Cove, Ar. Brothers include: David Heifner and wife Wanda of Dierks, Ar, Calvin Heifner and wife Donna of Hatfield, Ar, Robert Richardson and wife Mona of Morrilton, Ar. one sister Dee Roberts of Cove, Ar and sister in law Margie Heifner of Hatfield, Ar. and a number of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Heifner Richardson, brothers Frankie “Spanky” Heifner and Jerry Heifner.

She was united in marriage to the late Bill Martin, Jr. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mena. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a dear friend to those who knew her.

Mr. Isaac Elroy Reid, age 68, a resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Friday, March 2nd in the Christus St. Michael Hospital.

He was born to Eele Leroy and Imelda Gwendolyn Morgan Reid on August 9, 1943, in Grannis, Arkansas. He was a retired machinist working for Sterling Machine Shop, Mena, Arkansas. He was a Baptist, and had a passion for music. He played the guitar and theb banjo, and loved to sing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Franklin Reid, and two sisters, Rena Frachiseur, and Winnie Blackmon.

He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elaine and Cuin Norvell of Robert Lee, Texas, and Polly Thomas of Grannis, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces,and great-nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Elroy Reid will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6th in the First Baptist Church of Grannis. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. A Celebration of his life with live music will be on Monday evening, March 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wanda Jacquelyn Johnson Martin, age 84, a resident of De Queen, and former resident of Grannis, died Saturday, March 3rd in the Brookewood Nursing Center, De Queen.

She was born to Edward Jack Johnson and Elva Viola Arnold in El Dorado, Arkansas, on June 10, 1927. She was a retired personnel director with Tyson Foods, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Grannis. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a half-brother, Rex Duane Evans, and two grandchildren, Rick Dwayne Menchew, and Jason Henry Martin, and two daughters-in-law, Judy Martin, and Betty Jean Martin.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Henry Martin of Langtry, Texas, Randall Wayne Martin of Grannis, Ricky Lynn and Frances Martin of Grannis, Lendall Arnold and Nedra Martin of Wickes, and Michael Hazen and Rhonda Martin of Hot Springs, Arkansas, fifteen grandchildren, Victor Martin, Gary Lionell Martin, Chiquetta Smith, Vickie Milam, Jimmy Martin, Jess Martin, Arthur Lee Tidmore, Charla Davis, Natasha Brewer, Brad Martin, Brian Martin, Bo Martin, Cody Forga, Michael Martin, and Sherri Smith, thirty-two great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.

Gerald Singleton, age 74, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in Little Rock.

He was born May 24, 1937 in Oden, Arkansas to the late Z.F. Singleton and the late Dessie Singleton. He was a cattle farmer and was a member of the Polk County Cattleman’s Association. He was a devoted Christian, and was a member of the Bible Believers’ Baptist Church. Mr. Singleton was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was a loving father, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be missed by his family and friends.
